Yesterday was the last of the 2 Saturdays my first-born had to go to school. After school I made my first attempt at baking a carrot cake. Well to be honest, it was the first of any cake I have attempted, with icing and all.
Considering that, it didn't turn out too badly. The taste was ok though a little on the sweet side. The texture was a little towards the dense side and I blame this on the mixer. I used the wrong implement because I couldn't find the proper one, you know the one that looks like 2 egg beaters.
Anyway, we got an invitation to tea today, so I brought some of the cake. Admittedly, and much to my relief, it was a success. The hosts were full of compliments which pleased me immensely as I've never seen Laukong beeming ever so proudly of yours truly - though I doubt that he'd admit this.
